Gracias a los dos comentarios muy alentadores
que ha recibido mi primera historia en este blog,
me animo a continuar donde lo dejé.
El caso es que la Opera que marca el inicio de la
opera clasica "Moderna" en los libros de historia
es el Orfeo ed Euridice de Gluck (de memoria creo
que data del 1762). Es el ejemplo que se suele poner
de opera reformista, aunque hubo otras anteriores
(desconocidas hoy) y posteriormente a esa fecha
se cmpusieron muchisimas operas en el estilo
pre-Gluck.
Aún así, son raras las citas a operas previas a Mozart,
salvo por razones historicas, y dichas obras están
casi fuera del repertorio, y relegadas al olvido.
El repertorio contiene casi exclusivamente obras de
1800 en adelante, comenzando por Rossini,
hasta Wagner, Puccini, etc.
No quiero ni debo criticar esta etapa post-clasica
de la Opera, sino que mi interes está en la
epoca primitiva, Barroca y Pre-clasica, que
prácticamente ocupa 200 años de creacion musical
y en la cual se representaron muchas mas obras que
en los siglos posteriores.
Con la excepción quizá de las indispensables obras de Monteverdi y algunas de Handel, Rameau, y otros pocos
compositores, la vasta producción de esos dos siglos
ha quedado relegada al olvido y desprecio mas absoluto
por parte de muchos.
No olvidemos, por ejemplo, que la Opera nace en Italia
alrededor de 1600 con las obras de Peri y Caccini, y que
transcurridos unos años, el nuevo estilo se exportó principalmente a Alemania y Francia, pero que la egemonía Italiana era absoluta. De hecho el Italiano era el
idioma de la opera, y los compositores y libretistas
italianos eran requeridos en las mas importantes cortes de
Europa. La Opera Italiana era muy popular entre la
clase alta, que se la podia permitir, y continuamente
se daban representaciones privadas y publicas en las
grandes ocasiones. Practicamente todos los compositores
Italianos tocaron el género (con algunas excepciones
importantes como Corelli, Tartini, etc).
Incluso en Italia existian diversos estilos de Opera
caracteristicos de cada region. Asi tenemos, por ejemplo,
las escuelas de opera Veneciana, la Romana, etc,
y finalmente la Napolitana, que, como la pizza,
se extendió rapidamente y durante muchos años por toda
Europa.
La pregunta obvia es entonces:
¿Qué sucedió
con todas esta masiva producción musical de operas que se
arranbla en los estantes polvorientos de las bibliotecas y archivos de todo el mundo? ¿Pasó ya su tiempo y
no tiene ningun interés para el melomano moderno,
que prefiere la opera del ochocientos?
¿No hay lugar para esta musica en el siglo 21, la era del
la rumba latina, el flamenco, de la fusion de musicas y de operacion triunfo?
